Airplane 1980

 Mostly standard but effective shots of an internally lit model against a rear projection screen with foreground smoke haze and rain effects.

There are some shots of the model sliding along a miniature runway with a very rudimentary background buildings that look like cut outs as well as a joke Israeli Airlines model with a beard.

One shot has the model colliding with a radio mast in a miniature city environment.

There are some Auction photos purportedly of the original miniature however the paint scheme does not match. The Auction prop model photos show a very clean all white with red graphics model with no markings on the tail fin. In the movie the model is weathered, the graphics extend up the tail fin and the wings, engines and lower fuselage are all in a metallic finish.

One sequence is of a close up of the landing gear under brakes. The wheels are recognizably off the shelf hobby RC model aircraft wheels and tyres.

One amusing aspect of the miniature shots is that the four engined jet aircraft model is accompanied by the sound effects of a propeller driven aircraft.

In a few frame grabs the lightning flashes show the model front lit.
